Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced an increase in certain permanent residence (PR) fees effective from April 30, 2024. The fee adjustments are in line with Canada’s Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations and are calculated based on the cumulative percentage increase to the Consumer Price Index for Canada, published by Statistics Canada.
The updated fees apply to various categories, including family reunification, humanitarian and compassionate consideration, caregivers, permit holders, and business programs. Notably, accompanying dependent children will see increased fees across several programs. IRCC has outlined exemptions from the Right of Permanent Residence (RPR) Fee for specific groups, such as sponsored children and certain principal applicants.
Moreover, IRCC has clarified that permit holder class permanent residence applicants cannot include accompanying family members in their PR applications and must apply individually. These fee adjustments reflect IRCC’s commitment to aligning fees with economic indicators and ensuring fairness in the immigration process.
